Abstract

In the second decade of the 21st century, Israel's religious Zionist camp has undergone a process of accelerated dealignment of its partisan sub-system. The party configurations within the religious nationalist society in the 2022 elections differed from those in 2021, which took place only a year and a half earlier. The previous decade had been characterized by continuous and accelerated dealignment within the religious nationalist partisan sub-system, consisting of continuously changing political organizations, fast ascent and decline of new and old political parties, frequent leadership transitions and a growing difficulty to forecast election results and developments. Such drastic dealignment in such a short time is unprecedented in any other group of parties in Israel, despite the fact that dealignment is prevalent in general within the entire system. There is no doubt that the dealignment of the religious nationalist partisan sub-system is still underway and that if these trends continue as predicted, it will again transform itself towards the next elections.
