"שלושה אמנים ישראלים התבקשו ליצור עבודות שיתייחסו לשנת-לידתם המשותפת. לכאורה אין פשוט מזה: איש אינו נמלט משנת לידתו. אך ככל נקודת גבול, "שנת הלידה" היא בלתי נתפסת בזמן אמת. התערוכה "1980: הסצנה הראשיתית" שואלת כיצד אפשר להגיע לנקודת גבול לא באמצעות שחזור נוסטלגי'. -- ממאמר המבוא.
