שיח הגאולה הדתי השפיעה במידה רבה על הכתיבה של ניטשה בסוגיות החינוך של תקופתו - החלק השני של המאה ה-19. הוא עושה שימוש בשיח זה ככלי פרשני להבנת ההקשר החברתי-היסטורי שבו הוא כותב.
