Abstract

Many perceive Facebook not just for socializing, but also as a tool for job hunting. This study's goal is to identify features that boost success in job-seeking posts, measured by exposure and engagement. Analyzing 346 posts from public Facebook groups (2021-2023), we investigated the correlation between post characteristics and their performance. Success, in our context, was based on interaction levels, not job acquisition. The research process involved identifying, coding, and analyzing post features. No single feature guaranteed success, but formal language, detailed personal narratives, and job descriptions helped. Surprisingly, calls for likes or shares were counterproductive. This research adds to the developing field of job-search strategies on social media, being one of the first focusing on the content itself and not by using questionaries nor interviews. The findings provide a foundation for further research and practical tips for job seekers aiming for higher post visibility and engagement.
