Abstract
המאמר עוסק במחאות עכשוויות כאירועים תרבותיים ועומד על השימוש בחפצים אייקונים במרחב העירוני והדיגיטלי. שימוש זה מגביר את המודעות למצוקות חברתיות ומניע את הממשל לחולל שינויים מהותיים בהתנהלותו. המאמר מתייחס להפגנות המיליון למען עצמאות מיפן ב-1919, הפגנות הדמוקרטיזציה - 1960-1987, הפגנות הענק בדרישה לשקיפות ויושרה מההנהגה הדמוקרטית 2002-2017 וכן לתרומה של טכנולוגיות תקשורת להפצת רעיונות וסמלים מרגשים בהפגנות הענק בסיאול.
