Abstract
The article examines the poem ”Danny Gibbor“ (”Danny is a Hero“) by Miriam Yalan-Shteklis and its illustrations by Nahum Gutman (1941) and Tzila Binder (1957). Each illustrator, from their distinct perspective, enriches the poem with mythical and archetypal dimensions, connecting the text and illustrations to fundamental themes in Western literature and visual art, as well as to canonical works in Hebrew literature for both children and adults. The article analyzes the text-illustration relationship as a multidimensional work in its own right, exploring the various meanings that emerge from the interplay between the textual and visual elements—a creation whose significance transcends the sum of its components.
