Abstract
יש שני אילוצים מרכזיים שהמחויבות הדמוקרטית מטילה על ההגדרה היהודית, אשר עומדים בבסיס הלגיטימציה של המדינה: חופש הדת של אזרחיה ושוויון בפני החוק. המאמר מתייחס גם לביטויי יהדותה של המדינה.
