Abstract

This research explores how previous experience with online courses and the "openness to experience" personality trait affects the intentions to take a mandatory or elective online course. The results suggest that the intentions to take an online course increases when students have previous experience with online courses, but only for elective courses. These intentions decrease when students lack previous experience with online courses and are highly open to experience. The students avoid taking an online course if they don't have previous experience of studying such courses
