Abstract
Analysis of the use of the term “context” in post-October 7 Israeli discourse reveals how, on the one hand, any attempt to refer to concrete contexts to explain the event is proscribed, and on the other hand, mocking metalinguistic references to the term itself are plentiful, resulting in a superficial, Manichean public conversation.
