Abstract
קרב קרני חיטין שנערך ב–1187 לא היה הראשון שניטש בין צאלח א–דין לבין הצבא הצלבני באותו אזור. קדמו לו שני קרבות, שבאחד מהם התנהלות הצלבנים ותוצאות הקרב היו אחרות. יש בכך כדי לערער את התאוריה התולה את תבוסת הצלבנים במעמדם ככובשים בארץ הקודש.
