Abstract
The main project of Maharal’s concept of prophecy was concentrated in criticizing the rational concept. He aimed at removing prophecy from its psychological and intellectual concepts and to replace it in the experiental domain. For Maharal prophecy is a “separate” phenomenon, that is it denotes the involvement of the transcendental being in the material world. Mosaic prophecy differs in that it could not be related in any way to the material world. It destroyed matter. Therefore it could happen in the desert only. It should be added that Maharal used irony in order to criticize the rational concept of prophecy.
