המאמר עוסק באזור השומרון לאחר חורבן ממלכת ישראל. המאמר עוסק בהרכבה של האוכלוסייה שישבה באזור בתקופה האשורית והפרסית, ומנתח את הזהות השומרונית שנוצרה שם.
