מאמר זה מבקש להתמקד בשאלת כוחו של היישוב היהודי בארץ־ישראל בתקופת השלטון העות'מאני, ואחריו הבריטי, לאור יחסי המגדר הנבנים ברומן "שכול וכישלון" ולאור נקודות המפגש בין הפסיכולוגי־אידיאולוגי לבין שאלת הכוח ועיצובה המגדרי כשאלה על גבריות (מתוך המאמר)
