Personal profile

Research interests

I am an historian of the late antique and early Medieval West. I am primarily interested in questions of identity – ethnic, religious, and class-based – in the post-Roman successor kingdoms in the 5th – 7th centuries. My publications have focused on monastic history and religious patronage in the Burgundian and the Merovingian kingdoms. I am also interested in the reception of Merovingian history in medieval and early modern historiography.
