Born and grew up in Jerusalem, Israel.
Areas of research:
Hassidism, mysticism and New Age in Hebrew literature. In the field of Hassidism, his research deals with Breslav mysticism and the thought of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav. In his comprehensive study, which deals with the basics of mysticism and madness in Rabbi Nachman's work, Prof. Mark outlines the features of Breslav mysticism, and the phenomenological connections between madness and states of devotion, which are reflected in Rabbi Nachman's mishna.In addition, Prof. Mark deals with the infrastructures of mysticism and New Age in Hebrew literature, and also with the existing influences from modern non-Jewish literature and culture in poets and writers, such as: Yona Wallach, Hamotel Bar Yosef, Zelda, Pinchas Sade, Yosef Berdichevsky and more.
