Research interests

Beyond my duties as laboratory manager, my main research interest focuses on the history and geography of plants. The aim of my current projects is to integrate between plant systematics, archaeobotany, plant ecology, and biogeography with the aim of studying the history of biodiversity of Israel, patterns of land and plant use, and the history of anthropogenic impacts on vegetation from the Bronze and Iron Ages (Canaanite, Philistine, Judahite cultures) until Hellenistic-Roman times.

I am also working on the creation of a 3D Seed Identification Key for Poaceae in order to facilitate identification of these plants up to the species level.

I have been serving as the archaeobotanist of the Tell es-Safi/Gath Archaeological Project since 2012.
