My research interests center on operating systems and virtualization, particularly the fundamental challenges of making systems faster, more efficient, and more correct. I explore how to optimize memory management mechanisms like copy-on-write and TLB operations, design virtualization systems that match bare-metal performance, and create novel ways for hypervisors and guest operating systems to cooperate effectively. My work is driven by questioning long-held assumptions in system design and deeply understanding the interfaces between hardware and software layers. This approach has led to multiple best paper awards and practical impact through contributions to production systems including the Linux kernel. I believe that significant performance improvements come from challenging conventional wisdom and rethinking how modern computer systems should be built from the ground up.
