Research interests

Dr.Frenkel Morgenstern research strategy is to catalogue the chimeric transcripts specifically and highly expressed in different types of cancers, and to study the potential functions of their corresponding fusion proteins (Frenkel-Morgenstern, Gorohovski et al, Nucleic Acids Research, 2012; Frenkel-Morgenstern, Lacroix et al, Genome Research, 2012; Frenkel-Morgenstern and Valencia, Bioinformatics, 2012) in order to find a potential drug target. Dr. Frenkel-Morgenstern has worked on the cancer fusion transcripts, and proteins as well as protein-protein interaction networks during last five years in the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO). She has significantly contributed to the field by discovering fusion transcripts and proteins in several organisms (Frenkel-Morgenstern, Gorohovski, et al, NAR, 2015).
