The Kupiec lab uses the power of yeast genetics, molecular and systems biology, and biochemistry, to investigate basic questions about the eukaryotic genome. Our research has implications for the fields of Cancer, Aging, Evolution, as well as Systems Biology and Cell Biology. Among other subjects, we analyze the proteins that maintain the stability and integrity of the genome, such as DNA replication and repair, DNA damage checkpoints and telomeres. We study the mechanisms that create and/or prevent mutations. We also investigate the protein kinases SNF1 (AMPK) and TOR (mTOR).
