Personal Biographical Information:

I was born and raised in Givatayim, Israel. I served 5 years as a solider and an officer in a special combat engineers unit of the IDF. I earned my Ph.D. from the Hebrew University, and I continued to a post-doctoral training in the USA. In 2011 I joined a Senior Lecturer to the newly established Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee. I am married to Karin and a father to 3 children. I live in the Michmanim, a Mizpe on the top of the Kamon Mountain in the lower Galilee.

Research

Higher-order genome organization and its impact on growth, development, and disease.

We study the mechanisms by which Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) protein complexes shape the three-dimensional structure of chromatin, and how mutations in their encoding genes are associated with human diseases.
