Research interests

A Bar-Ilan alumnus, with a BSc in Physics and Computer Science and a PhD in Physics, Prof. Taitelbaum received the Rothschild Scholarship and completed a post-doctorate at the University of Maryland and at the National Institutes of Health in the United States. In 1993 he joined the faculty of Bar-Ilan's Department of Physics, where he has been a full professor since 2006.

His research work is aimed at understanding a variety of physical processes in complex systems, physical, chemical and biological. The work is theoretical and numerical, and each project is performed in collaboration with experimental groups in the relevant fields, in order to verify experimentally the theoretical predictions and to obtain feedback for future research directions. Throughout the years he worked mainly on photon migration in biological tissues, reaction-diffusion systems.

Research Areas:

  • Statistical physics: reaction kinetics, interface growth
  • Medical physics: optical imaging, photon migration
  • Simulations and modeling of physical systems
