Research interests
- Vegetation and climate reconstruction of the Near East during prehistoric and historic periods. My studies illuminate possible causes related to critical questions in human evolution and developments, such as human dispersal from Africa, the transition to agriculture, and the prosperity and collapse of Near Eastern empires.
- Botanical Archaeolgy - identification of botanical remains from archeological contexts: past plant species diversity, horticultural practices, plant usage, diet, ancient royal gardens, plant migration etc.
