I am a senior lecturer at the Comparative Literature Department at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat-Gan, Israel
Once a friend of mine told me, I am lucky my hobby and my professional occupation overlap. I must admit it is true. Since my whole academic training was in the Comparative Literature Dept. at Bar-Ilan, it is not surprising that I feel at home here. That is why I am trying to make it a home for my students too.
I wrote my M.A. thesis under the supervision of Prof. Yehudah Friedlander on The Women of the Nibelungenlied (the German epic from the thirteenth century). My Ph.D. dissertation was written under the supervision of Prof. Ruth Reichelberg z"l, titled "A Woman's Charm in Le Morte Darthur – Two Models of Women in the Work of Sir Thomas Malory". Prof. Reichelberg was not only my teacher and supervisor; I feel she was my mentor in my professional and my private life. In recent years, I have decided to return to my true love: poetry. Percy Bysshe Shelly wrote: "Poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which is distorted." I think that in a world as ours, nothing is more important than that. Lately I am working on modern and contemporary poetry on biblical themes. I found the combination of old and new, traditional and modern, sometimes even avant-garde, fascinating and exciting.
