Organisation profile

The Institute for the Advancement of Integration was established in 1982 by the late Professor Yehuda Amir, following the implementation of the reform policy in the secondary education system in Israel and the establishment of the middle schools. Prof. Amir had set two main goals for the institute: to promote social integration in the education system and advance the academic endeavors of disadvantaged students through intervention in the education system.

In order to achieve these goals, the Institute has established the following professional divisions: English Teaching Division, Mathematics Teaching Division, Music Division, Research and Assessment Division, and The Division for Mediation in the Educational System. The Institute is part of the Bar-Ilan University School of Education.

The Institute is an institute for applied research and thus research findings are applied in the field of education and their effectiveness is evaluated during and after the intervention process.

At the head of each division are academic leaders from the field of education, who have gained experience working in the field of education (teaching, management and/or supervision) which allows them the research knowledge they have gained while understanding the real needs of the schools.

The Institute's staff are experienced in the teaching and training in education whose job is to carry out the school intervention while making the necessary changes and improvements in accordance to the requests of local education authorities, school supervisors, and school administrators.

Every educational intervention is accompanied by a formative and conclusive assessment. Today, the institute operates in many local authorities and schools across the country-  in the Jewish, Arab, and Druze sectors - in both state education and religious state education.

Local education authority, school supervisors, or school administrators who are interested in the institute's services can contact the relevant heads of division directly, by name, telephone or address below.

The Division for Mediation in the Educational System

The Mediator Training program developed by a team of experts in the field of psychology, law, and more. The theoretical foundation is based on the most up-to-date academic knowledge and research and practical knowledge that serves as the heart of the course. Research and Assesment Division

The Assessment Division at the Institute provides professional assessment services to various positions and bodies in the educational system, which, in the course of their work, are required to make decisions regarding the activities for which they are responsible.

Division Objectives

Music Division

Music is an integral part of a child's development. Musical skills, just like any other skill, must start to be developed at an early age. It serves as a means of facilitating educational skills- i.e. develops general learning skills, such as attention and concentration, and regulates social behavior, such as playing together. In addition, music serves as an emotional outlet for young children who can not yet verbally express themselves.

English Division

The English Division provides services for schools in two ways:

1. Professional development and empowerment of teachers and education workers

2. Advancing students' academic achievement

Math Division - "HASBH" initiative

The Math division offers tools that schools can use to improve the level of math among students. The division operates on two levels:

1. The development of study units according to the HASBH method

Each study unit includes a student booklet and a teacher's guide

2. Training Mathematics teachers using the method developed in the HASBH method
