One of the central revolutions in the academic world in recent years, as is well known, is the collapse of disciplinary barriers.
This trend has since spread to the other fields of study. One cannot study literature nowadays without vast knowledge in anthropology (Levy-Strauss’ studies and others), in brain physiology (the ways a text is apprehended), economics (commodity culture principles), etc. In philosophy, knowledge in sociology or psychology is an integral part of the philosophical body of knowledge itself. For example, the works of Clifford Geertz and Peter Winch are studied as part of the discourse on the concept of rationality. In Law, hermeneutic theories, as those of Gadamer, are considered relevant to the understanding of the judicial praxis, though they were not initially presented as theories of jurisprudence. Science, Technology and Society are interwoven as fields of study and modes of Understanding the practice and knowledge of the world.
